The Music Has Stopped.

In 2011, I began creating music for the German audio drama series "Sherlock Holmes - Die neuen Fälle." I didn't realize at the time that this would become a long-term project that would span eight years until 2019. Over that period, I composed, orchestrated, and produced the music for 56 episodes of the show, which were released on CD and streaming platforms. The final episode, episode 56, is now available on CD, LP, and streaming. It has been 13 years.

I am grateful for the opportunity that I was given to prove myself, spread my wings and challenge myself throughout the process. I quickly realized that in order to keep myself interested and engaged, I needed to come up with a method. My idea was to write a new theme and variations for every episode, each featuring a solo instrument recorded live. I produced the backing using samples.

Countless talented musicians brought magic to my notes over 13 years. Despite my meager budget, they graciously worked on this project with me.

Coincidentally, Facebook reminded me today of the first review I ever received for my music. In 2012, a customer on Amazon made it clear that he was not a fan of the contribution I had made for the series’ pilot, stating that it sounded like his cat had just run over the keyboard. I was both amused and hurt at the same time. Over the years, the reviews improved, but they also became boring, leading me to stop reading them. While I did learn about composing and orchestrating, I also learned that reviews mean nothing. They didn’t influence my approach or the sales of my records.

The production company released a promo CD of my music. Even today, I still have 50 copies of it on my shelf. I hold them dear as a reminder of a time that has passed. If you're interested, you can listen to a few of my tracks on my homepage.
